UK Feb new Car Sales Up more than 10%, Industry Body Says

March 5 (Reuters) - New car registrations in Britain rose more than 10% from a year earlier, recording the best February in two decades, preliminary industry data showed on Tuesday.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) also said market share of battery EVs reached about 17% last month and the industry body called for "fairer" EV taxation ahead of the country's budget due on Wednesday.

Britain had sold its one millionth battery EV in January.

SMMT final figures for the month are due to be published at 0900 GMT.
